Sergei Polunin

Born in the Ukraine, he joined The Royal Ballet School in 2003 aged 13. In 2006 he won the Prix de Lausanne (including the Audience Award). That same year he also won the Youth America Grand Prix and an award at the Sixth Lifar International Ballet Competition. In 2007 he was named Young British Dancer of the Year. He has danced many leading roles and solos for the School, including the Corsaire pas de deux at the Schoolfs Annual Matinee in 2007. He joined The Royal Ballet in 2007 and has since danced the Bronze Idol, Matvei (A Month in the Country), Florestan pas de deux (Sleeping Beauty) and in Dances at a Gathering. He was promoted to First Soloist in 2009. And became Principal in June, 2010.
